Choosing the right frame.
There are many different factors to consider when you're choosing the frame for a painting or print. First of all there's the moulding (see the photo on the left). Should it be simple or ornate? Thick or thin? Timber or metal, gold or silver? Rich gold, pale gold, champagne gold? The choices are endless. We have hundreds of samples on display. Some are locally made, others are imported from Italy, Spain and the USA.
Then there's the matt or the surround. Does the picture need a matt? What colour should it be? How wide? Should the surround be made up of colours taken from the picture itself?
Even choosing a simple white matt requires careful choice. There are 'white' whites, grey whites, warm whites and cool whites. We have dozens of different whites and will happily show you why one 'white' will work better than another.
Where will the framed picture live? Is it for a house, an office, a restaurant? A loungeroom, a hallway or a bedroom? What kind of furniture is in the room. What colour is the furniture? Are there other pictures on the walls. All of these things can affect how you should frame your picture.
